The Office of University Programs is hosting Student Day on March 9, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel for undergraduate and graduate students who are sponsored by the DHS Office of University Programs and Centers of Excellence. This is an invitation only event. Students that were successful in the abstracts competition for the 4th Annual DHS University Network Summit poster session will be in attendance. All other participants of the DHS Student and Alumni Network are also invited and encouraged to attend at their expense.
Student Day is intended to foster networking and continued interest in homeland security fields while highlighting the successes of DHS sponsored students. Student day will consist of:
- Student Presentations, Guest Speakers and Panels
- Lunch with DHS Center of Excellence Directors and Representatives
- Poster Session and Reception
Student Day provides an opportunity for DHS sponsored students to make presentations on their research; hear from an insightful panel of DHS, federal, and national laboratory employees on employment; receive the latest news from the Student and Alumni Network; and network with other students and Center of Excellence directors.
The poster session and reception will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Grand Ballroom and is open to the public. Students will be available to discuss their research. Judging for the top three posters will be conducted during the reception. All are invited and welcome to attend the student poster session and reception. This is a wonderful time to show your support for the students and their work. Registration is required by student participants and those attending the reception. The winners of the poster competition will be announced on March 10 at the luncheon of the 4th Annual DHS University Network Summit.
