REPORTER: “I'm here in front of County Memorial Hospital where a 70-year-old man died Monday, becoming the 43rd person in our state to die from the virus, the greatest number of virus-related deaths in our state’s history.

Twenty-nine people remain hospitalized with the virus. The virus emerged in our state last month and has killed 109 people in the United States so far. Fear of the illness has caused major economic damage to the state, with many businesses closing due to fear of exposure, both on the part of employees and customers. The governor again has urged people not to panic, stating that plenty of vaccine is on the way for everyone, and that vaccination clinics will reopen as soon as possible. When asked why sufficient supplies of vaccine are not available, the governor’s staff referred the question to the director of the state health department. Calls by this reporter to the director have not been returned. Stayed tuned for future updates on News at 9.”
