Conference Agenda For 12 years, the Women in Science and Technology (WIST) conference has opened doors for young women considering careers in scientific and technical fields by providing them with valuable information, encouragement, and introducing them to successful women professionals. [Speakers are being finalized.  See WIST 2001 Conference Summary link below to read about speakers participating last year.]

Sponsored by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the WIST conference is designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 2,000 college women, along with their professors, have attended this conference in past years.

Several special events are planned for this year's WIST conference.  Highlights will include:

  • NEWTours of Oak Ridge National Laboratory
  • Presentations by women who are leaders in their field
  • Opportunities to network with women professionals in a variety of scientific and technical areas
  • Materials on graduate schools and funding sources
