11 years, the Women in Science and Technology (WIST) conference
has opened doors for young women considering careers in scientific and
technical fields by providing them with valuable information,
encouragement, and introducing them to successful women professionals.
Sponsored by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the WIST conference is designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 2,000 college women, along with their professors, have attended this conference in past years. Several special events are planned for this year's WIST conference. Highlights will include:
