Course Names:

 General Technical Base Online Course
General Technical Base Addendum Online Course
     

Description:

There are two courses available on the DOE Online Learning Center (OLC) to fulfill the competencies of the General Technical Base (GTB) Qualification Standard in the Technical Qualification Program (TQP).  Completion of the OLC courses is the preferred method for documenting completion of the GTB competencies.  To successfully complete all competency requirements for the GTB Qualification Standard, DOE employees much complete both the:

  • GTB Course, and the

  • SAF-099DE GTB Addendum Course

Please note the GTB Addendum Course serves to fulfill the delta between the 2001 version and the most current 2007 version.  TQP participants who have already qualified to the 2001 version may choose to take the Addendum course as an opportunity for technical continuing training.

To access the courses, please click on the link below to connect with the DOE Online Learning Center (OLC).  However, if you've never accessed the DOE OLC, please call the ORO Training Center at (865) 576-1082 first and request they set you up in the system and give you a password. Once you have your password, please follow the directions below:

1. Set your computer screen resolution to 1024 by 768.

2. Login to the OLC, using the link listed below.

3. In the search catalog box, type "General Technical Base."

4. The first two courses listed will be the "General Technical Base" course and the "SAF-099DE General Technical Base Addendum."

5. Click on the blue box on the far right that says "Go to Content" and take each course, as applicable. 

6. If a separate screen launching the training does not appear, you need to turn off the pop up blocker or allow pop ups from this web site.

Once you successfully complete the online course, you should be able to print a certificate of completion to use as your evidence for completion of the competencies.
