Classified Matter Protection and Control

Description:

This on-line unclassified course is designed to provide basic knowledge and procedures to perform CMPC functions associated with the preparation, use, storage, reproduction, receipt and transfer, destruction, etc., of classified and sensitive information. This course is computer based, which allows the user to meet CMPC requirements while in their office and using their own computer.  It contains 13 modules which address different areas of the CMPC program; links to various reference tools such as the ORO CMPC Manual; review questions; and a 30-question open-book final examination. A score of 80 percent is required for successful completion.  Modules covered in this computer-based course include:

- Identification of appropriate key CMPC resources.
- Identification of the types of information that are classified and the reasons for doing so.
- Identification of need-to-know and document access requirements.
- Recognition of accountable classified documents and media (classified removable electronic media -CREM) and familiarization of the ORO Document Accountability and Tracking System.
-   Recognition of basic classified document and media markings.
-   Identification of proper procedures for reproducing classified documents.
-   Identification of requirements for storing classified matter.
-   Identification of requirements for transmitting classified matter.
-   Identification of requirements for destroying classified matter.
-    Identification of protection and control requirements for sensitive unclassified information.
-   Identification of responsibilities for reporting incidents of security concern.
-   Identification of security infractions and violations.
-   Identification of other protection and control considerations.
   

Audience:

DOE/ORO Federal and direct support contractor employees who have the responsibility for generating, using, handling, storing, reproducing, transferring, and/or destroying classified and sensitive information.  NOTE:  Other DOE Federal and contractor employees may take this training as needed.

Frequency: This course must be completed every two (2) years.  Recertification reminder will be made by email.

A Training Request Form is not required for this training.  Upon successful completion of this training, a Certificate of Completion will be sent electronically to the employee.  In addition, a copy of the Certificate of  Successful Completion for ORO Federal employees will be sent to the ORO Training Center for documentation of their Official Training Record.  All others should provide a copy of their Certificate of Completion to their Training Office.
