SASIG Products

The SASIG develops products as references or resources for carrying out S&S Awareness Program responsibilities. When the need for a particular resource is identified, Steering Committee project task groups plan and develop the product. These products are updated periodically.

The following are available for downloading:

  • Safeguards and Security Awareness Handbook: A Reference for Security Awareness Coordinators (February 2001; Version 3, June 2004) - (Acrobat Format - 729 KB)
  • The handbook has been completely updated by a special task group of the SASIG Steering Committee. The handbook addresses responsibilities of the Security Awareness Coordinator and requirements of four security briefings: initial, comprehensive, termination, and refresher. Appendices provide resources for the S&S Awareness Program and a list of security-related DOE directives.

  • Safeguards and Security Reporting Requirements For and About Individuals (updated, August 2008) - (Word Format - 67 KB)

This matrix lists DOE or higher reporting requirements for or about all cleared and uncleared individuals and all access authorization applicants. The matrix is set up in a “Who, What, When, Where, and Why” format for quick and easy reference. It does not cover DOE reporting requirements applicable only to certain positions or programs, nor additional reporting requirements found in local directives or plans.

  • A System to Gain Management Support for Your Security Awareness Program (October 2002) - (Word Format - 1,789 KB)

A special task group of the SASIG Steering Committee developed this reference to provide ideas and suggestions for Security Awareness Coordinators and others working in the S&S Awareness Program for getting management support. The program requires recognition and financial support of S&S managers to meet its goals and responsibilities.

  • Refresher Briefing for Off-Site Personnel (December 2007) - (Acrobat Format - 97 KB)

A special task group of the SASIG Steering Committee developed a generic Refresher Briefing primarily for off-site personnel who have access authorization and visit a site infrequently, or not at all. The briefing has flexibility to allow site-specific information to be added. An MS-Word version is available from teh SASIG Coordinator.
