Discussion Panels and Roundtables

Discussion Panels will be held on Friday morning, April 16

Panel discussions provide the opportunity for conference participants to learn valuable information from women professionals about establishing a successful and rewarding career in a scientific and/or technological field.

Panel Topics will include:

"Where Can You Go in 21st Century Science?"

Moderator: Dr. Dabney Johnson, ORNL Life Sciences Division

This discussion panel will feature women professionals from academia, industry, national laboratory research, and business who will discuss career choices made in moving toward a niche in science.

"Essential Steps to Finding Your First Job"

Moderator: Dianne Rairdon, Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education

This discussion panel will focus on the practical information and tools conference participants will need to begin successful careers in scientific and technical fields. Job market forecasts, trends, salary forecasts, resume preparation, interviewing skills, and the science of managing money are some of the topics for this informative panel.

Roundtable Discussions

Roundtable discussions  provide conference attendees with the opportunity for focused, one-on-one discussions with women working in the fields of science an technology to help them to establish networking contacts and possible mentoring relationships.
