For more than eight years, the Women in Science and Technology (WIST) conference has opened doors for young women considering careers in scientific and technical fields by providing them with valuable information and encouragement and introducing them to successful women professionals.
Sponsored by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and funded by the U.S. Department of Energys Office of Science, the WIST conference is designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 450 college women and high school seniorsalong with their professors and high school teachershave attended this conference in past years.
