For more than seven years, the Women in Science and Technology (WIST) conference has opened doors for young women considering careers in scientific and technical fields by providing them with valuable information and encouragement and introducing them to successful women professionals.

1998 WIST Conference Summary

 

Sponsored by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Research, the WIST conference is designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 300 college women and high school seniors—along with their professors and high school teachers—have attended this conference in past years.
