| For more than a decade, the Women
in Science and Technology (WIST) conference opened doors for young
women considering careers in scientific and technical fields by providing
them with valuable information and encouragement as well as by introducing
them to successful women professionals.
The WIST conference was designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 2,000 college women—along with their professors—have attended this conference in past years. WIST was sponsored by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and UT-Battelle.
