How You are Selected

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) scientists who are interested in hosting students will begin viewing all applications on February 1. They may identify several possible applicants and then make their final decision based on telephone conversations with those students. Therefore, an ORNL scientist may call you and express an interest in hosting you. However, you should understand that this is for decision-making purposes only and should not be considered an offer of appointment. You are not officially offered an appointment until you receive an email offer from the US Department of Energy Headquarters with details regarding your appointment at ORNL. This offer will include information for a contact at ORISE, the administrative agent for ORNL. Not all mentors call students. Consequently, if you are not called, it does not mean you will not be selected.
