The American delegation hosted a lunch on Thursday to provide additional opportunities for American students to interact with Laureates and other dignitaries. In attendance were Nobel Laureates Edmond Fischer and Hamilton Smith; Ludwig Feinendegen, vice-chairman of the Kuratorium; Jürgen Uhlenbusch of the Kuratorium and his wife Leonore; Astrid Gräslund, Secretary of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry and her husband Christian; Anders Bárány, Secretary of the Nobel Committee for Physics; Lady Helena Eccles, distinguished scientist and wife of Nobel Laureate Sir John Eccles (deceased); Jan Sjövall of Stockholm; Klaus Wrogemann of the University of Manitoba; Dennis Patton of the University of Arizona; Thomas Frank, German archeologist; Bill Bowers of the Journal for Minority Medical Students and his wife Vanessa; and Jerry McClure of the Department of Energy and his wife Christa.
