June 25, 2000 - Arrival in Lindau

There were some tense moments and nervous travelers as we departed Washington, D.C. There was the possibility that the flight to New York was going to be canceled and a chance of missing our connection to Germany, but everything finally worked out, and we managed to get everyone to Lindau. As you can see from the photos below, the students had no difficulty in adjusting to the trip.

Mark Jones (left) and Billy Acon chat on the double-decker bus from Zurich to Lindau. The scenery was great and the bus driver's commentary was colorful and maybe even helpful.

From the left, Priscilla Campbell (ORISE), Tracy Criswell, Olga Lobban, Melissa Meyer, and Wayne Stevenson (ORISE) share a bratwurst lunch at a Lindau street cafe.

This is the Hotel Friehof where some of the students are staying. Students  gather on Maximilian Strasse in the heart of Lindau's historic old city.
