Meet Research Participant
Kofi Whitney

Undergraduate Education: Senior at Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina; pursuing B.S. in Computer Science; expected graduation, 2003.

Kofi WhitneyResearch Assignment:  Kofi spent the summer of 2002 in the Nuclear Science and Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He helped to program computer software that allows nuclear analysts to quickly retrieve and visualize data that ensures the safety of nuclear fuel fabrication, transport, storage, and disposal. Kofi mastered the Java programming language and wrote code to allow the software program to be used on multiple computer platforms. Kofi would like to integrate his computer programming experience into a career in human-computer interaction, studying the design, use, and formation of future computer interfaces.

"I probably can't express in words what this experience has meant to me. I'll definitely be focused when I get back to school. Now I've got a renewed interest in what I'm doing. Coming here has been a reinforcement of finding myself."
