The
opening day in Lindau culminated with an evening social
event that offered excellent dining and stimulating
conversations with the Nobel Laureates and students from
many countries.

Like the other events during
the meetings with the Nobel Laureates, the evening social
was designed to allow participants to converse with the
laureates in a relaxed atmosphere. Each laureate was seated
at one of the tables in the dining hall and students could
join any one of them for dinner. Across the room, students
from many countries were engaged in intense conversation
with each of the laureates.
The social
was also an opportunity for the participants to meet
students from other countries and get acquainted. This
was the first year that there was a large contingent of
students from India. Conversations
ranged from high-energy physics to sports and fashion.
