SECME is a pre-college program that prepares and
motivates students, especially underrepresented students, to enter and
complete post-secondary studies in science, mathematics, engineering and
technology.
Any student at Oak Ridge High School in Oak
Ridge, Tennessee, who is in good standing at school, has a minimum grade
point average of 2.00, and is a member of SECME may apply for a 10-week
summer internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The student receives a
stipend of $300 per week.
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and
Education (ORISE), a partner with ORNL, administers the SECME program. For
