Morning lectures were given by Laureates Roald Hoffman of the U.S., Paul Crutzen of Germany, and Sherwood Rowland of the U.S. Since it was the occasion of Dr. Rowland’s birthday, Countess Sonja presented him with a gift.

A roundtable discussion on “Energy and Global Warming” was followed with a panel composed of Laureates Paul Crutzen, Roy Glauber, Roald Hoffmann, Rudolph Marcus, Sherwood Rowland, and Sir John Walker. Chairpersons of the roundtable were Professor Astrid Gräslund and Wolfgang Lubitz.

While most students had lunch on their own, some American students joined the Japanese delegation for lunch at the Hotel Stift prior to participating in more small group sessions led by the Laureates.

After dinner on their own, the students had the option of attending the UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra at the Stadt Theater on the island.
