Arriving in Lindau
Saturday, June 24, 2006

The group split up to travel via the Philadelphia and Dulles airports, but reassembled successfully in Munich for a bus ride to Lindau. The students arrived in Lindau at 4 p.m. and checked into their hotels featuring cordial and distinctly European atmosphere. The students were just in time to participate in a unique cultural experience. At 5 p.m., the German national team played Sweden in a second round World Cup match. Some students joined many local German fans that turned out to watch the match in local restaurants. Germany won 2-0 and advanced to the quarterfinal round where they will face Argentina on the night of June 30. Other students explored the island to become more familiar with their surroundings for the next few days.

A local German restaurant put up a big screen television to show the second round World Cup match between Germany-Sweden. Some of the American students and other meeting attendees formed an international crowd of fans cheering for their host country - Germany.
