Session Objective

The objectives for this session are to:

  • Have awareness of emerging science regarding genomics and cardiovascular health and understanding connection with programs.
  • Understand importance of genomic risk factors for sudden cardiac death and their overlap with risk factors and messaging for HDSP.
  • Gain experience in use of family history data collection tool and educational component, using real life examples.

Session Summary

This session is an interactive workshop to help participants understand the emerging importance of genomics and family history for their work in surveillance, education, prevention/promotion, and policy. Participants learn how to integrate family history and genetic testing into collection, counseling/education/motivational interviewing, provider education, and policy efforts.
