  • Dyann Matson Koffman, DrPH, MPH, CHES, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Moderators: Susan Ladd, MS, CDC (Session A) and Dory Masters, M.Ed, CHES, CDC (Session B)

Session Objective

The objectives for this session are to:

  • Describe a web-based tool to engage worksites developed by the Maine Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program and how the tool will be used for state-level evaluation.
  • Discuss an array of integrated evaluation approaches and tools that states and others can use to evaluate efforts in worksites.
  • Identify measures of success for worksite interventions including HDSP indicators.

Session Summary

Worksites are a strategic setting for chronic disease intervention and health promotion and employers are critical in the quest for comprehensive health care. Worksites are also a challenging setting for both intervention and evaluation. As we think about worksite policy and system change and supporting health status change, what should we measure and how do we measure it? This session provides tools, techniques and strategies for evaluating work site interventions and will engage peers in problem solving discussions.

The activity includes a group strategy session, where participants share their state’s challenges and successes related to evaluating worksite interventions with colleagues in a facilitated small group activity. Challenges are opened for group problem solving. Two case studies and guiding questions are provided to encourage discussion.
