CDC’s Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Annual Grantee Meeting – 2009
The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), sponsored annual training for its National Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (HDSP), Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation (WISEWOMAN), and Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Registry (PCNASR) programs, September 14-17, 2009, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia. The meeting objective was to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills of the public health workforce to address heart disease and stroke prevention and control on a national and state level.
Meeting Purpose
- Provided current information on cross cutting/big picture priority issues related to heart disease and stroke;
- Provided workshops that supported grantee program priority areas and competencies necessary to carry out FOA parameters;
- Enhanced participants' expertise to address program priority areas with skill building activities and practice sessions in workshops;
- Promoted synergy among programs and fostered networking and collaborative opportunities among participants through roundtables and group discussions;
- Oriented new program managers and staff to management and strategic planning skills relevant to their cooperative agreement;
- Provided opportunities for business meetings of organizations such as the CVH Council, Stroke Networks, and partner organizations.
