  • Marilyn Sitaker, Epidemiologist, Washginton State Department of Health

Session Objective

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to utilize logic models to develop an evaluation plan

Supporting Skills and Knowledge:

  • Describe the components of a program logic model.
  • Use a program logic model to identify domains for evaluation.
  • Identify evaluation questions and indicators using a program logic model.
  • Develop a program evaluation plan based on the logic model.

Activity

Using a developed logic model, participants will identify evaluation questions and discuss evaluation approaches to answering those questions

Session Summary

In this session, participants will learn about the importance of a logic model in program planning and evaluation, and how a logic model can be used to develop an evaluation plan.

The session will begin with a brief review of logic models focusing on what makes a good logic model. Next, the session will examine how to use a logic model for evaluation planning including identification of evaluation questions and mapping of evaluation questions and indicators to the logic model. Washington State will describe the process used for generating an evaluation plan for program interventions, using developed logic models. Participants will generate evaluation questions and discuss evaluation approaches using a logic model developed for this session.
