Transforming research into clinical practice has been a challenge for many years. The Georgia Stroke and Heart Attack Prevention Program (SHAPP) is a model program that has achieved outcomes using Joint National Committee guidelines as the framework for the development of nursing protocol to address hypertension diagnosis, management and treatment. Ms. Chambers will provide an overview of SHAPP and components of a successful hypertension program resulting in policy and system change.
