Session Summary

The Private Sector: Where do I begin?

This session will address popular questions asked frequently by many public health professionals regarding private-sector employers:

  • Where do I begin?
  • How do I even get in the door of the Human Resource Executive’s office?
  • How do I translate public sector language into private sector terms and vice versa?
  • How can I communicate to the private sector the value of public health?
  • Better yet, how can public and private sector work together to improve employee health plan benefits for HDSP preventive services?

All these questions and more will be answered. The session will also include an interactive panel discussion from the states of Missouri, Kansas, and New York regarding their experience with private sector employers while specifically highlighting the CDC’s Evaluating Health Plans Benefits and Services to Promote Cardiovascular Health and Prevent Heart Disease and Stroke.
