Summary

Improving emergency response is one of six priorities areas for state heart disease and stroke prevention programs. This interactive workshop will build on the information presented during the EMS plenary. Presenters will explore the complexity of emergency medical response systems (e.g. organizational structure, data systems, staffing, rural and urban issues, dispatch, medical direction, training, etc.). The session activities will assist participants to assess their emergency response systems’ capacity to address cardiovascular events and identify opportunities to enhance those systems.
