Objective/Supporting Skills and Knowledge
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Use the Wilder Collaboration Factors Inventory to rate potential coalition partners’ strengths and weaknesses.
- List other steps to identify possible partners to help carry out your goals.
- List needed structural elements for a coalition.
- Facilitate establishment of coalition goals that encompass member organizations’ goals.
- Establish effective communication channels among coalition members.
Summary
The session will focus on skills needed to identify coalition partners with the resources to help states carry out their heart disease and stroke prevention program. Participants will be able to use the Wilder Collaboration Factors Inventory to identify what potential partners can bring to the table and balance their resources to best support the coalition’s activities. Participants will also learn the needed structural elements for a successful coalition and techniques for getting coalition partners actively involved in the coalition’s activities.
