Objective/Supporting Skills and Knowledge

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify online CDC resources useful for improving state Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention program planning
  • Locate resources through the Roadmap related to researching available online data collections
  • Use selected resources to develop objectives that support the CDC’s Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention priorities
  • Enter SMART objectives that are appropriately targeted into the MIS
  • Describe the content of the CDC interactive maps and atlases
  • Navigate the CDC Heart Disease and Strokes maps website
  • Use data in the planning process, including burden document development

Summary

The session will introduce selected CDC online resources that are useful in the planning process for state Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention programs. The tools to be explored include the MIS, the Roadmap, and the CDC interactive heart disease and stroke maps and atlases. In addition, participants will be provided with an example of how to apply these tools in the planning process.
