The 2003 Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (HDSP) Practitioners Institute was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, May 13-16, 2003, in Dallas, Texas.
The focus of this Institute was on enhancing capacity to develop and maintain successful state program partnerships and conduct effective policy and environmental change strategies. All States had the opportunity to discuss their and share lessons learned. The training was structured with general sessions on theory and content that form the foundation for State HDSP Programs, small group interactive sessions, and practice/skill building sessions. Concurrent sessions were designed for participants with limited State HDSP Program experience and for experienced State HDSP Program staff.
These Institutes are the primary mechanism for providing training and technical assistance to CDC-funded State HDSP Program.
