Entering College Freshman
Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien (PRAs are subject to DOE clearance approval for laboratory entry).
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be pursuing a degree or career in science, mathematics, engineering, technology, or related fields.
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.0/4.0.
- Have received a high school diploma from a U.S. school in the term immediately preceding participation.
- Be accepted at an accredited U.S. college or university for the term immediately following participation.
Application Deadline
- February 1
Note: It is recommended that you submit your application by the deadline. However, applications are accepted at any time.
Term
- 10 weeks summer
- No extension or return
Stipend
- $300/week paid bi-weekly
- $75/week housing allowance (for students whose permanent residence is outside a radius of 60 miles of ORNL)
Application Information
All of the following must be submitted for the applicant to be considered:
- Completed application form.
- Two academic references.
- Letter of acceptance from a college or university for the term immediately following the term of program participation.
NOTE: If you are selected for an appointment, you will be required to submit an official transcript from your high school and a copy of a college acceptance letter. Any falsification will render you ineligible for participation and, if found after participation has begun, may require you to reimburse any funds received.
