GREF Eligibility Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Applicants must have completed at least one year of graduate school unless they have participated previously in the SURE program.
  • Minority and female students are encouraged to apply.

Application Guidelines:  (Applications will be available October 1, 2008 for the GREF program which begins the following September.)

  • Please check your application to make sure you have completed ALL sections, and keep a copy of the application and supporting documents for your files.  You are responsible for checking with ORISE to determine whether your application file is complete.
     
  • All parts of the application must be received at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) before 11:59:59 p.m. EST February 2, 2009.  Late or incomplete applications will NOT be reviewed for an award.
     
  • The Global Change Education program reserves the right to limit the number of Graduate Research Environmental Fellows per academic institution (faculty advisor).
     
  • Transcripts:  You must provide an official transcript for each college/university or technical school attended.  The date(s) when you received your undergraduate degree(s) must be shown on the appropriate transcript(s).  Transcripts must be received at ORISE on or before February 9, 2009.
     
  • References:  References are required from your faculty advisor, Department of Energy research mentor, and either a professor or employer.  References may be:  (1) a printed copy sent directly to ORISE; (2) an e-mail attachment from an institutional e-mail address sent to gcep@orau.gov; or (3) a sealed envelope with appropriate identification on the sealed side of the envelope.  References must be received at ORISE on or before February 9, 2009.
