Postdoctoral Research Program

Application Instructions
 
Eligibility:
  • An applicant must have received a doctoral degree in an appropriate science or engineering discipline within three years of the desired starting date or expect to complete all requirements for such a degree prior to the desired starting date.  The desired starting date must be before December 31 of the application year.  U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is also required.

To Apply:

  • You are required to submit the following documents:
    • Application
    • Proposed Research Form
    • Résumé
    • Publication List (including thesis or dissertation title, if applicable)
    • Two References (including your thesis or dissertation adviser) who are familiar with your professional qualifications
    • Transcripts (unofficial or official)
       
  • Please complete the application and proposed research form using Microsoft Word and save them once completed. 
     
  • After you have finished, you must convert the application, proposed research form, resume, and publication list to PDF files.  If you do not have access to the necessary conversion tools, you may go to http://createpdf.adobe.com/ which allows the creation of PDF files online.
     
  • Complete the online Summary Data Form and then upload all four PDF files (application, proposed research form, resume, and publication list) by clicking on the "Browse" button and selecting the file.  You will only have one chance to upload each file.  If you upload the wrong file, you will not be able to change it. 
     
  • Please submit your original transcripts to ORISE at:  Fusion Energy Postdoctoral Research Program; Attn: Debbie Alcorn; ORISE, P.O. Box 117, MS 36; Oak Ridge, TN  37831-0117.
     
  • Please provide your two referees with the Reference Form so that they may submit the form directly to ORISE on or before the deadline.
     

Deadline

All parts of the application (including references and transcripts) must be received at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education by March 1, 2008.  It is the applicant's responsibility to check with ORISE regarding the completeness of the application file.  Late or incomplete applications will NOT be reviewed for awards.
