HIV - Ask Yourself

WOMAN: “It’s time to ask yourself a few questions about HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.  Don’t say anything out loud ‘cause I want you to be really truthful to the most important person there is…you.  Do you worry about taking an HIV test?  Have you thought about it and decided you just didn’t want the hassle…or did the idea scare you?  Are you afraid of finding out something you don’t want to know?”

“Like I said, don’t answer out loud…it’s your business.  You’re the one who knows if you have had sex with someone who might be infected, or share drug needles and syringes, but if you’re infected, you should also know that progress has been made.  Today there are things you can do that can help you live longer.”

“Call your national, state or local AIDS hotline.  You’ll talk to someone who talks every day to people who have the same worries you do.  They can help you get the information you need to make the right decision.”
