1. How do I use CDCynergy?

2. Which Browser can I use with CDCynergy?

Answer: CDCynergy was designed to be used with Internet Explorer 6.

3. What are the preferred browser settings for CDCynergy?

Answer: Because most of the CDCynergy content is run entirely through browser windows and contains multimedia, there are certain Internet preference settings that should be selected in order that you may view all materials.

Internet Explorer:
Select View, Internet Options from the menu bar.
Click the "Advanced" tab in the upper right hand side of the screen. The following items in the scrolling list, if available, should have a check or a dot beside of them:

Click the "Security" tab at the top of the screen. Click on the small dot beside "Custom," then click the button labeled "Settings." The following items in the scrolling list should have a check or a dot beside them:

4. When I have the tutorial window displayed, how do I get back to the main menu options - the ones that were available when I started the program?

Answer: Click on the atom in the upper left corner. It displays the main menu choices.

5. How can I return to the CDCynergy tutorial as I am working in my plan or model?

Answer: You can use the Alt-Tab key press combination, or use your task bar.

6. I have a plan open already; how can I start a new plan or model? I don't want to lose what I have in my existing plan or model, just start a new one.

Answer: You can do this by saving another "starter" document from the "My Plan" link.

7. What is in the document that starts up when I begin a new plan or model?

Answer: The My Plan starter document consists of: possible section titles, the CDCynergy steps, and guidance for each step. You can change the titles as appropriate for your individual plan - these are suggested titles only.

The My Model file consists of two tables with specific information for you to fill in.

8. Can I add spread sheets and graphics to my plan?

Answer: Yes. You are limited to the contents of your plan only by the capabilities of your word processor. If your word processor supports the inclusion of spreadsheets, graphics, etc., then it can be put into your plan.

9. Does CDCynergy let me spell check my plan or model?

Answer: Spell check is done from inside your word processor. When your plan is open, notice that your word processing application is open. You have full access to all features of your word processor.

10. I keep getting an error that Real Player cannot find the given video or audio file. What do I need to do?

Answer: In order to solve this problem, you will need to empty your Internet browser's cache.

11. How do I print out a screen that does not have the browser toolbar displayed?

Answer: You can print from your browser, even when the print button (in the toolbar) is turned off. To do this first click in the area you want to print. (The CDCynergy program is built in frames, so you must click on it first to select the frame.) Then press CTRL-P.

12. How do I search for a word or phrase?

Answer: In the upper right corner of each Phase, there is a Search button. Clicking the button opens a Search window. Type in the word or words that you are looking for in the text field and either hit the ENTER key or click SEARCH. This will return the matching results. You also have access to advanced search features that will help to narrow your search.

14. After I open several pdf files (Adobe) they stop opening; my screen status displays "done" but there is no document showing in the browser window. Why?

Answer: Older versions of the Adobe Reader do not always clear out of the browser's memory after you close them. This causes the Reader plug-in to act as though you have too many pdf windows open. You can fix this problem by either:

1. Closing CDCynergy and all browser windows, then restarting CDCynergy.

2. Close your browser windows; install the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the website: http://www.adobe.com.

15. Resource documents are not opening when I click on the links. Why?

Answer: There could be several reasons why this is happening. Check the following list and take action accordingly.
