From a day to day basis we take a heat gun and heat welds on a Ford Five Hundred frame. We have six people in our group, so we divide the activities equally. We have to use an infrared camera to determine whether or not the welds are good are bad. So basically welding is the process of permanently joining two or more metal parts, by melting both materials. The molten materials quickly cool, and the two metals are permanently bonded. Spot welding is primarily used for joining parts that normally up to 3mm thickness. Spot-weld diameters range from 3mm to 12.5mm in diameter.
