American Museum of Science and Energy

The American Museum of Science and Energy was an enjoyable experience for everyone. We walked to the museum and first listened to an interesting lecture. The orator discussed such fascinating things as teleportation and a new, sixth state of matter. Some students asked questions, and the implication of new and upcoming physics were discussed. Afterwards, we had an interactive experience in which we could touch a sphere, have electricity travel through our bodies, and cause our hair to stand up.

Following the presentation, we were free to explore the museum. A paper was handed out for a scavenger hunt, and the information for it could be found in various places throughout the museum.

There were several interactive exhibits. Topics shown were the hidden city of Oak Ridge, fusion and fission, radiation, the body, Y-12, and natural power sources. They also had a gift shop were we bought space food and other interesting souvenirs to take with us.
