Stream Ecology

A group of high school students will gain an appreciation of streams as ecological systems by sampling fish, conducting snail studies (capture, tag, release, recapture), and obtaining data by measuring simple water-quality parameters in streams on or near the Oak Ridge Reservation. We expect to visit different sites in several streams during the studies, to better reveal the effects of urbanization or land-use changes on stream ecosystems.
