The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is collaborating with the U.S. Department of
Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to provide a
two-week residential, hands-on learning institute for high school students and teachers
focusing on math, science, and technology. The summer programs are being administered
by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and are held in mid July each year.
Students and teachers from throughout Appalachia come together to
participate in a hands-on learning program that focused on the application of math and science
principles.
